W elcome to the professional page for Eric Brown.  Currently, I’m instructing Management of Information Systems classes at William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri.    This site is the repository of all my professional work, as well as my professional blog.  I have had a passion for technology for many decades.  Years ago, a friend and I would spend our weekends reading code to each other from Compute Magazine while the other typed it into his Atari 800 personal computer.

When we got tired, we would save it onto a cassette tape, being careful to record the counter location where our program save started and ended.  I don’t think we ever typed everything in perfectly to begin with.  Of the dozens of programs we tried typing in, I think we were actually able to play 2 games, and even those were buggy.  That Christmas, my family purchased an Atari 800 XL computer, complete with a floppy drive.  With this, I programmed a quiz program, with randomized multiple choice questions.  However, once I was done programming in all the data, I already knew all the answers.  I’ve been hooked ever since.  This site will hopefully outline some of the projects and accomplishments I’ve completed over the years.  Feel free to shoot me any questions if you have any.

I attribute my success in the field of information technology to two personal characteristics.  First, I’m never afraid to plug something in, or click on a button.  Either way, I’m going to learn what works, or what I shouldn’t have done.  Of course, experience has taught me to be a little smarter about taking precautions before clicking or plugging.  The second trait that has helped me in technology is the tenacity, or stupidity, to keep trying if things don’t work as expected.  Of course I can’t take all the credit.  I probably wouldn’t be where I am today without Google, and all those who have put their problems and solutions out there in the internet for me to learn from.
